Art in the Wild Woods Wed March 1 AM & PM
This week, we continued working with the hammers. The children who didn't create their one to take home were able to work on them. We also started a large group one that will stay in the wild woods. This is a favorite activity each year. It incorporates fine motor (holding the nails) , gross motor (swinging the hammers), hand-eye coordination, and once they are adding the rubber bands, they are able to practice geometry by creating shapes.
The children also experimented with crayon relief painting. First drawing with crayons, then painting with slip (watered down clay) The 'paint' doesn't stick to the crayons. It was difficult for the children to press hard enough to get the full effect, but they enjoyed painting with the clay.
