This week during art class, the children created instruments! The day before, the kids collected a variety of Y shaped sticks to use. After they chose a stick, they used acrylic paint markers to decorate them. We tied one end of string on the stick and the children chose from a variety of bells and beads and then we tied the other end to the stick.
Some children created a second instrument, shakers. We used a variety of recycled plastic containers, added decoration using the paint markers, and filled them with rocks or beads. After experimenting, we discovered that the bells didn't make a much different sound.
Since all of the kids wanted to bring them home, we created some extra instruments to keep in the Wild Woods to use during music class.
